I’ve recently been photographing a lot of nature trails, specifically shooting various mosses, lichens, and fungi. I think these often overlooked plants are absolutely beautiful, and their stunning colors, shapes, sizes and textures never cease to amaze me. Here are some of my recent shots.
This last one was taken at Mt. Davidson-Arabia, a rock outcrop in Lithonia, Georgia. Throughout the mountain, there are these “pits” that contain fields of this red lichen called Diamorpha Smallii, which is an endangered species of plant, which is unique to the area.
